This
Youth
Ministry Basics course is based on the Center for Ministry
Development’s YMTV video-based program. It is designed to help
achieve three goals for ministry to/with/by/and for adolescents
as articulated in the U.S. Catholic Bishops document Renewing
the Vision:
-
To empower
young people to live as disciples of Jesus Christ in our
world today
-
To draw
young people to responsible participation in the life,
mission, and work of the Catholic faith community
- To
foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young
person.
Who should attend?
Teachers, Catechists, Parish Council, Parents, Youth, Deacons,
Coaches, Parish Ministry Committees. Everyone in the Community
is encouraged to participate as much as they can. Anyone
attending all 12 sessions receives a certificate of completion
from the Archdiocese of Hartford Office of Religious Education.
The Youth Ministry Basics Course consists of twelve 20-minute
videos supplemented by activities, discussions, and parish
applications. When we are done we will have the backbone
of a plan to promote faith formation and develop comprehensive
youth ministry among the young people in your community. Cost is
$15.00 per person per class or $100.00 per person for all 12

2. Discipleship Project
Discipleship in
action - creatively serving the temporary residents at
Immaculate Conception Shelter on the corner of Park Street and
Hungerford in Hartford. In addition to the meal, we have had
groups who bring their youth choir to entertain, who assemble
breakfast bags or Easter baskets in class to distribute around
the holidays, or who create cards of encouragement and prayer
cards to instill hope.
We assemble no
later than 6:20pm in the kitchen to put the finishing touches
(cut and butter bread, make salad, wash fruit) on the meal you
have prepared at your parish. Dinner is expected at 7:00pm and
you are ready to process the evening by 7:45pm at a nearby
restaurant or in the car on your way home.
